Time is fleeting.
Jackson Hole with the kids reminded me just how fast it is moving… and how blessed we are when we actually slow down long enough to catch it.
This trip was pure magic. Several full ski days together—just the four of us—which hasn’t happened in far too long. Ski trips have always been my favorite: chairlift conversations that go everywhere and nowhere, cold mountain air in your lungs and on your face, tired legs, and that perfectly content kind of exhaustion that leads to cozy nights by the fire.
Our evenings were full of board games, deep conversations, watching the Olympics and the Super Bowl, and belly laughs from watching old home videos I’d had digitized around Christmas (PRICELESS—and I’ll share details in case others want to do this too). Quality time and the kind of laughter that reminds you: this is the good stuff.
We Nordic skied too—Katie and Nolan’s first time (they were naturals). Chris and I got better as we went, although baby hills were taken cautiously, as captured by Katie in a hilarious video (injuries are not in the time budget). Attention Nordic friends—this should be a bucket list item. The Grand Tetons looming in the background felt surreal, like a postcard we somehow stepped into.
I know these moments are becoming fewer as our kids’ lives fill with work, commitments, and their own priorities. We likely won’t all be together again until June—and that reality hits a little deeper these days.
So this is where I’ll keep choosing to spend my energy: on time together, shared experiences, laughter, and being fully present. We can’t control much of what’s happening in the world right now—but we can control how we show up for the people we love.
Life is short. Time is precious. Here’s to choosing to soak up what’s right in front of me. 💛🏔️
