This year, though, her brother may have taken the lead—with the simple idea of spending time together building gingerbread houses. He even made a point to visit a specialty candy shop(even making room in his suitcase) just so they could have some fun details to help bring their little masterpieces to life. It was a reminder that the best gifts don’t cost much at all—especially the ones that ask us to slow down and be present.

The ripple effect? It became a gift for Chris and I too—getting to watch it all unfold while we puttered around with last minute holiday to dos. ❤️
