Let's talk about SEX ... something that doesn't get talked about enough.
Sex. Desire. Libido.
Or ... the noticing that it's just not the same anymore ...
Maybe you don't think about it the way you used to.
Maybe it takes longer to feel interested.
Maybe your body just isn't responding the same way.
Have you thought, "This must just be part of getting older?"
You are not alone in this.
And this isn't something you just have to accept.
What's actually going on is our hormones are shifting so our libido is as well:
. Estrogen affects tissue health and comfort
. Testosterone influences desire and motivation
. Blood flow plays a key role in arousal
Arousal is physical. It relies on circulation. So there is a reason "things" feel
different. Oh yeah but we have never been told how important our hormones are for
our health including our sexual health.
I had an appointment at Restore Women's Wellness last week and it was refreshing
to have a provider actually ask me questions about my sexual health. And offer
suggestions as to how to improve it. This is one of the many comprehensive services
they provide.
I can not emphasize this enough ... you are allowed to want this part of your life to
feel good again. You are allowed to ask questions. You are allowed to look for
solutions. And you are definitely not the only one thinking about it.
The link below will offer some great podcasts to take a listen to and some book
suggestions that I have yet to read myself on the subject of sexual health and
women.
